Serengeti & Zanzibar

Overview

Tanzania pairs Africa's most famous safari circuit - the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire - with the spice island of Zanzibar. Climb Kilimanjaro, watch the migration cross the Mara River, then fly to Stone Town for white-sand beaches and dhow sunsets. It's two holidays in one country.

Ugandan and other EAC citizens enter visa-free. Most other nationalities can obtain an eVisa online (about USD 50) or a visa on arrival at major entry points.

Best Time to Visit

June–October for the northern safari circuit; June–February for Zanzibar beaches (avoid the long rains of April–May).

Currency

Tanzanian Shilling (TZS); USD accepted at most lodges
