Every January, Dubai turns itself into the world's largest mall-wide sale. The Dubai Shopping Festival packs citywide discounts, raffles with cars and gold as prizes, nightly fireworks and concerts into roughly five weeks - and it happens to coincide with the emirate's best beach weather.
What's actually worth it
Electronics, gold and designer fashion see the deepest genuine discounts - commonly 25–75% in the festival's final weeks. The Gold Souk's negotiable prices drop further when the festival raffles are running and footfall is high.
Planning notes
January flights from Entebbe fill early - book six to eight weeks out for sane fares. Hotels run festival packages that bundle breakfast and mall shuttle access, which beat headline room rates. And Ugandan travellers need a pre-arranged tourist visa: allow a week, or let us process it alongside your booking.
